Hyundai Heads For New Ground With The Tucson In 2004

Published: 14th November 2003
Hyundai will be strengthening its four wheel drive model range in 2004, with the introduction of a new sports-utility vehicle – the Tucson. Pronounced ‘Too-son’, the SUV will become the entry model to the Hyundai’s expanding four wheel drive range, supplementing the existing Santa Fe SUV and rugged Terracan off-roader.

Hyundai is confident that UK buyers will show as much interest in the Tucson as they have already with the Santa Fe and Terracan in a year where sales of Santa Fe are up 36.3 per cent over last year. The Tucson will rival the Toyota RAV-4, the Honda CR-V, Nissan X-TRAIL and the Land Rover Freelander. Hyundai Car UK expects it to go on sale next autumn, with a world debut in the first half of 2004.

Reliable and durable

Jim Campbell, Marketing Director commented: "Hyundai 4x4s are the only models available in the UK to offer a full five year, unlimited mileage, transferable warranty. It’s totally unique, and shows real confidence in the reliability and durability of the range we produce.

"We have shown we can produce formidable four wheel drive cars, which are not only tough, but easy to live with too."

Announcements on prices and specification can be expected in the New Year.
