The Futures's Bright - For Hyundai Worldwide

Here in the UK, Hyundai has sold an impressive seven per cent more vehicles in the first quarter of 2003, against a market which is down one per cent. Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd sold some 8,761 cars, which included 1,213 Coupes, 1,154 Santa Fes and 2,867 Getz – What Car? Budget Car of the Year 2003.
In each month this quarter, Hyundai has increased sales over the previous year, where the market has been shrinking.
Hyundai Motor Europe has reported that sales in March reached 30,046 – an all time high despite a sluggish market. This is some 22 per cent up on the same month last year. In Europe Hyundai has sold nearly 70,000 units in the first quarter of 2003, up six per cent on last year.
Over in North America, Hyundai Motor America in March saw sales increase by 20 per cent on the previous March, and 39 per cent on February 2003. It sold 11,293 Santa Fes in March. HMA finished quarter one with 92,978 sales, up more than 5,000 sales on the previous year’s quarter one (2002: 87,434).
In Canada meanwhile, Hyundai reported sales of 5,603 – its best March performance to date.
On a worldwide basis there was good news for the marque as well. Hyundai Motor Company shipped 460,955 units in quarter one, up 7.1 per cent on 2002 quarter one. This reflected an upsurge in demand globally.
Hyundai Motor Company sold 159,743 vehicles in March, a seven per cent increase on the same month last year.
Jim Campbell, Marketing Director of Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be increasing our sales in the UK, showing that people are getting the Hyundai message – that we are more than a match for the other cars out there."
He added: "The five year warranty has made a tremendous
difference to the perception of Hyundai in this country –
showing we have terrific confidence in our product, as do
our steadily increasing legion of customers."
