Summer's Proving Red Hot For Hyundai

Published: 19th August 2003
Yet again Hyundai sales in the UK are bucking the industry trend and proving that the Korean cars are a force to be reckoned with.

Hyundai sold 2,525 units in July, giving the company a 1.28 per cent market share (up 10 per cent on last July) against a market that was up just 1 per cent on a year ago.

Year to date Hyundai sold 19,152 units, which is a 1.24 per cent market share, with sales up 11 per cent on YTD in 2002 – that's against a market which is unchanged over the same period.

The top seller was the Getz at 6,977 units, followed by the Coupe at 2,881 units. At the start of the year, the Getz collected Hyundai’s most prestigious award to date, when it was voted What Car? Budget Car of the Year.

Penny Szczepaniak, PR Manager for Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd, said: "People are really getting the message that Hyundai cars are tough competition for the mainstream brands out there.

"Hyundai vehicles are not only smart and well equipped, recent surveys have shown that they are some of the most reliable on the road," she added.

And don’t forget the Coupe and Getz, in common with all Hyundai vehicles sold in the UK, come with an industry leading five-year unlimited-mileage fully transferable warranty.
