Hyundai In The UK: 21 Years Young

August: Hyundai’s Accent has also proved to be one of the most reliable small family cars on the market, in a survey by Warranty Direct.
September: Warranty Direct’s survey of most reliable manufacturers in the UK: Hyundai leaps four places over last year to place sixth out of 23 marques. The Index is calculated as the cost of repair and the frequency of failure against the number of policies held.
October: In a report into dealer performance by the Consumer Association’s Which? magazine, Hyundai ranked an impressive sixth out of 36 manufacturers in the servicing and repairs section with a score of 65 per cent (the average was 52 per cent). Hyundai rated 12th in the buying section.
October: The Getz collects the award for Scottish Small Car of the Year, beating off the Nissan Micra and Mazda2.
November: ‘I’m Sticking With You’ by the Velvet Underground wins a prestigious trophy in the Music Publishers Association (MPA) annual awards. The song scooped the award for Best Use of Music in an Advert (Pop Category). It was used in Hyundai’s five year warranty campaign, on the TV last year and the radio this year.
November: The Getz was declared budget car champion on top motoring programme 5th Gear - beating off no less than eight rivals including the Ford Ka, Fiat Punto and SEAT Arosa. To the end of November, more than 11,000 Getz have been sold in the UK.
December: Hyundai is still the only manufacturer in the UK to offer a five year, unlimited mileage, transferable warranty.
