Hyundai Getz 1.3 CDX
How It Drove - Performance
The Hyundai Getz is powered by a 1.3, 4-cylinder, 12-valve engine which produces 81 bhp at 5500 rpm enabling the Getz to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 11.5 seconds and continue to a top speed of 102 mph.
The 1.3 petrol engine is relatively quiet and smooth but you do need to work the 5-speed gearbox to realise its full potential. On steep hills you do find yourself changing up and down the gears to keep up with the flow of traffic. The clutch and gearbox are light and easy to operate which is especially important for town driving. The gearbox has a dual-cone synchroniser which has been used to make first/second gear shifting smoother.
Fuel economy is good with the Getz returning 49.6 mpg on a combined cycle and 40.4 mpg around town.
How It Drove - Ride/Handling
The Getz's ride is relatively good and it holds the road surprisingly well. The standard power steering is well-weighted and offers enough feedback for an enjoyable but not sporty drive. The Getz will get you from A to B with the minimum of fuss or excitement.
Ease of Use
The Getz couldn't be easier to drive as visibility is excellent all round making parking easy. The dashboard is ergonomically laid out with all the controls to hand and the switchgear is of a good quality. It is a very easy car to get in and out of with wide opening doors and low sills.
