Established in 1967 the Hyundai Motor Company is part of one of the largest industrial groups in the world. A little known fact in the UK is that Hyundai is the 7th largest car manufacturer in the world and operates the biggest automotive plant which is located in Ulsan - Korea.
The Getz went on sale in October 2002 and is available with 3 or 5-doors and a choice of three petrol engines a 1.1, 1.3, 1.6 and a 1.5 common-rail turbo-diesel. Prices start at £ 6,995 for the entry level 1.1 GSI 3 door - we tested the 1.3 CDX 5 door priced at £9,645.
Hyundai's marketing philosophy is 'a car first, a badge second' we test whether the Getz is a credible contender within the competitive supermini segment which includes class leaders such as the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo.
