Two lucky individuals are glad they chose to buy boxes of Shredded Wheat recently - as they won brand new Hyundai Getzs in an in-box competition!
Elizabeth Pearce from Crowborough, East Sussex, and Sarah Harris from Kennington, near Ashford, both won Getz 1.3 Sports through the Hyundai Shredded Wheat British Heart Foundation competition, which ran during the summer. The campaign was endorsed by sporting heroes Sir Henry Cooper, Sharon Davies and Roger Black.
The prize draw tied in with the BHF’s Heart Week campaign called ‘The Big Red Fight Back’. Hyundai offered five Getz 1.3 Sports as prizes, and the promotion was seen on more than five million boxes of Shredded Wheat and Shredded Wheat Bitesize. There are still three Getzs to be won before the competition closes at the end of July 2005.
Shredded Wheat donated £1 for every Big Red token sent in, which were found on special promotional packs. The money raised will go towards helping the BHF fight back against heart disease - raising vital funds for heart research, education and patient care programmes.
Mrs Pearce and Miss Harris were lucky enough to find Big Red flashing lights and heart-shaped winning certificates in their boxes, to show they had won Hyundai Getzs.
The lucky winners collected their cars from their local dealerships; Mrs Pearce from Southern Hyundai in Crawley, Miss Harris from Drake and Fletcher in Ashford.
Mrs Pearce said: "I was absolutely amazed, it was such a nice surprise. I couldn’t believe it! I owned a Hyundai Pony when I lived in New Zealand and knew they were nice cars."
Miss Harris said: "We were both shocked when we found we’d won! It is a really lovely car, and we’re starting to see them everywhere now."Published 10 November 2004
