Elantra Gets Fast And Furious In The USA
Published: 16th October 2002
The highly modified Elantra is the brainchild of Marck Fernandes from Los Angeles-based JEM Motorsports. His potent silver Elantra was put on display at the Speciality Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, and so impressed the makers of the film they offered Marck and the Elantra a small part in the action flick.
Marck’s Elantra is in pearl silver with a tenzo blue interior, and features a custom JT EVO body kit, shaved (removed) door handles and flared wheel arches. The suspension has a Chassis Tech air ride system, which allows it to bounce up and down by remote control.
The first Fast and the Furious, which starred Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, was a surprise box office hit, making $140 million in the US alone. It centred around the world of illegal street racing, by drivers who race fast and highly modified cars dodging the law and death at the same time.
Of course, we don’t recommend this sort of driving in your own Elantra on UK roads!
The Fast and the Furious 2 starts shooting this month
in Miami, and is released in the UK and US some time next
year.
