Revised 1.1 Litre Petrol Engine
The new Getz is also still available with an entry level 1.1 litre 67 PS (66bhp) petrol unit, revised to meet Euro IV emissions standards. When powered by this four-cylinder DOHC unit mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the Getz is capable of covering more than 51 mpg on the Combined Cycle and will reach a top speed in excess of 90 mph.
New Colours
The Getz makeover does not stop with great new looks and dynamic new engines, there are new colours to choose from as well. For an additional £295 customers can choose one of three new paint finishes, metallic Sky Blue and Space Silver and Midnight Grey mica. Standard solid colour choices are Hip-Hop Red and Ebony Black.
Passive Safety
Designed with both driver and pedestrian protection in mind, Getz has integrated crumple zones within a basic rigid structure. More than 58 per cent of the total car’s weight is high tensile steel.
New Getz also benefits from strengthened dual height, high efficiency side impact bars. GSI models get driver and passenger airbags as standard, while CDX variants add front side airbags. All models have front seatbelt pretensioners.
Historic Performer
On its launch in 2002 Getz won the What Car? Budget Car of the Year award, and has gone on to sell more than 550,000 units worldwide, almost 270,000 of them in Europe.
More than 15,000 were sold in the UK last year and a similar number will be sold again this year. Hyundai anticipates that with its striking new looks, dynamic new engines, high levels of specification and competitive pricing, even more will be sold in the UK and the rest of Europe in 2006.
