By virtue of their low CO2 emissions and competitive pricing, all new Accord models will attract low BIK taxation for company car drivers, compared with competitors. For example, the 2.0 i-VTEC SE will be taxed at 19% of the P11D price (2003/2004) – the same as many diesel cars in the upper medium segment. Those seeking high performance will find the low CO2 emissions of the 2.4 Type-S in the same tax bracket as many competitors’ 2.0 litre models.

Service Maintenance and Repair (SMR)

SMR costs for new Accord will be the lowest in sector, even when comparisons are made against high volume marques such as Ford and Vauxhall, according to International Decision Systems’ data.

Over a three year 60,000 mile term the 2.0 Executive will incur £278.52 repair costs, £571.92 tyre costs and £441.02 service costs, while corresponding figures for the 2.4 Type-S are £286.73, £587.58 and £441.02.

Both models benefit from Honda’s generous three year 90,000 mile warranty and require just 6.3 hours servicing labour time over 60,000 miles at the revised 12,500 mile intervals.

Low Insurance Costs

Just announced ABI recommended insurance group ratings for the new Accord models place all 2.0 litre models in Group 11, and all 2.4 litre models in group 14.

This is especially good news for private buyers, since it means that the new Accord will cost less money to insure than the majority of its prestige rivals. An insurance group comparison with some of the class leaders appears overleaf.
