New Accord - Premium Quality With Excellent Ownership Costs

Published: 7th December 2002
Low Fuel Costs

Both of the Accord’s i-VTEC petrol engines are extremely efficient. At their respective power levels – 155PS for the 2.0 litre and 190 PS for the 2.4 – they give the Accord better fuel consumption than any direct petrol engine competitor of similar power level.

Just announced official fuel consumption figures show that the Accord 2.0 SE (155 PS, 38.2 mpg EU Combined) is conspicuously more efficient than the Audi A4 (130 PS, 35.8 mpg), while the 2.4 Type-S (190 PS, 31.4 mpg) demonstrates that four cylinders can be better than six: Alfa 156 2.5 V6 24V Lusso (192 PS,
23.9 mpg).

And since fuel consumed is directly proportional to carbon dioxide emission, it follows that Accord models are also top in class in this area too – with actual values of 176 g/km (2.0 SE manual) and 214 g/km (2.4 Type-S). The full list of fuel consumption / CO2 emission figures appears below:
