FIAT Idea 1.3 Multijet 16v Active
Build Quality
FIAT have not always had the best reputation for build quality, we once owned an early FIAT Brava and our experience was not good. Since then build quality has come on a long way - we did not see any evidence of build quality issues or suffer from any problems during our week with the Idea and the materials used were in keeping with the cost of the car.
Value For Money
At £10,895 OTR the FIAT Idea 1.3 MultiJet Active is good value for money and it offers a good level of safety equipment but we would like to see side airbags as standard throughout the range.
The diesel model costs £900 more than the equivalent petrol version so do your sums if you don't do much mileage.
Overall Opinion
So is the Fiat Idea, a good idea?
The answer is yes, it is an innovative lifestyle vehicle that has been well executed with a touch of Italian design.
FIAT excel at building small city cars including the best selling Punto, the award winning Panda and of course our favourite car the iconic FIAT 500. We understand that the 500 is making a comeback very soon, and we cannot wait.
If you require a compact MPV we would recommend that you take a good look at the FIAT Idea; it is family friendly and offers an incredibly flexible interior space combined with excellent fuel economy.
