Recently crowned Car of the Year 2004 by a 58-strong jury of European motoring journalists, the new Fiat Panda has just won another important accolade - Best City Car - in the What Car? Car of the Year 2004 Awards held last night at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

New Panda, which went on sale here on Saturday 17 January, is already a big hit in mainland European markets, and over 130,000 orders have been received by Fiat Auto's European dealer network since the car's autumn 2003 launch.

What Car? was unstinting in its praise: "...occupants are treated to a fine ride that soaks up all the usual obstacle courses with aplomb. The Panda also displays a maturity on faster roads that sets it apart from its rivals, filling its driver with confidence.

"The Panda takes to family life with relish. What really impresses us is the care that Fiat has put into building a small car without compromise. This is the most complete city car we have driven."

Commenting on the New Panda recently, Fiat Auto CEO, Herbert Demel, remarked: "The appreciation of the press and the excellent welcome from the public are real, tangible signs that our company is on the right track and that the work done, and underway, is starting to bear fruit."
