In 2004, the Fiat Panda was the first A segment car to be awarded the Car of the year award and was the first compact (under four metres long) to feature a diesel engine.

The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show will see the unveiling of the new Fiat Panda, an evolution of the design, manoeuvrability, space, reliability and comfort expected of the city car, before it goes on sale in the UK in spring 2012.

The new Fiat Panda is slightly larger than the outgoing model, with an overall length of 365cm, width of 164cm and a height of 155cm.

The third generation Fiat Panda features improvements in comfort, technology and safety equipment. A new engine range includes the TwinAir twin cylinder engines: 85bhp TwinAir Turbo, or the brand new 65bhp naturally aspirated TwinAir, both feature Start and Stop as standard. The final petrol engine is range is the 69bhp 1.2 litre Fire engine. Also available will be the 75bhp turbodiesel 1.2 litre MultiJet 2 engine which is also equipped with Start and Stop as standard. The Panda also features a Gearshift Indicator to help drivers with efficient driving to reduce fuel consumption.

Only front wheel drive will be available at launch, with a four wheel drive version planned. Standard safety features for the new Fiat Panda include four airbags, ABS anti-lock braking with a brake assist system, front seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, Isofix attachments for child seats, anti-whiplash front head restraints, rear headrests, and Daytime Running Lights.

The new Fiat Panda can accept Blue&Me-TomTom LIVE which provides an integrated and connected portable navigator with the advantages of an infotainment system, Customers can connect their mobile phones and media players without removing their hands from the steering wheel.
