Fiat Auto UK Launches The Academy

Published: 15th February 2005

Fiat Auto UK has just launched a new training and development programme to its staff and dealer network.

Called The Academy, the programme has been established to set a new benchmark within the motor industry sector for training excellence, and to provide individuals with a clear and structured path to achieve their personal development goals.

Fiat has always been at the forefront of training for its dealer staff, and is proud that its courses have long been regarded as among the best in the automotive industry. The Academy is set to expand on Fiat Auto’s involvement in this field, and assist in raising standards across the board throughout its business and dealer network.

The Academy’s training programmes cover areas such as sales, service, parts, aftersales, finance and fleet, and there are even some degree courses for dealer principals.

Individuals enrolling into The Academy will be assessed so as to evaluate what their training and development needs are. On reviewing the assessment, a training path and timings are individually agreed.

By following the programmes, and successfully completing the required training courses, delegates are able to gain professional, industry recognised qualifications from the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry), an established and respected institution.

The Academy has IMI Approved Training centre status and all training is aligned to Sales Certificate IMI Approved.

In addition, Automotive Skills Limited, a recently established governing body for training with the automotive industry, has joined forces with The Academy to help individuals attain qualifications at the highest level.

Fiat Auto is among the first manufacturers in the UK to have its technical training programmes mapped against IMI ‘Technical Certificate’ qualifications.

The Academy’s training goal is to improve personal and business performance. All of the training courses and programmes are designed to benefit the delegate immediately, as well as in the long-term.

Mike Wigmore, Academy Director, says: "I’m extremely excited to be involved in the creation and launch of The Academy. This initiative shows our total commitment to our dealers and their staff in providing them with the opportunity to significantly improve the business performance of their dealerships."
