The new Fiat Doblo goes on sale in the UK in January 2015 priced from £13,480 – which is £1,000 cheaper than the old model’s entry level edition.
This is not a completely new model rather a major revision of the fourth generation model which was introduced back in 2000. For 2015 it features a new sculpted bonnet; front wings, headlamps and a new grille, which Fiat say give the Doblo more of a car stance. There is a new front bumper, where at the rear there are new light clusters, and a revised tailgate.
For 2015 there are three engine/transmission choices, three trim levels, two roof heights and a choice of five- or seven-seat versions. Twin sliding rear doors are standard, while there is a choice of tailgates and the option of a fold-flat front passenger seat.
The five-seat editions can carry between 790 and 3,200 litres of cargo with all the seats folded down, making it a very versatile vehicle.
Fiat has re-worked the transmission making lighter work of gear changes whilst improving the throttle response – and reducing noise intrusion. The Doblo features bi-link, independent rear suspension, with dual-rate shock absorbers, high-performance springs with a rear anti-roll bar.
Core safety equipment across the range comprises ESC (Electronic Stability Control); ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), Hill Holder; ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution); front airbags (side bags are optional) and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
For 2015 a new entry level ‘Pop’ trim level joins the range which is equipped with Start&Stop, remote central locking, electric front windows and a 60/40 split rear seat. It is available with the 1.4-litre 95hp petrol engine at £13,480.
Next comes the “Easy” edition which adds body-coloured bumpers front and rear, front fog lights, body-coloured electric door mirrors, steering wheel audio remote controls and a height adjustable driver’s seat. Prices for the Doblo Easy start at £14,650 for the 95hp 1.4-litre petrol engine, with the 1.6-litre MultiJet 2 105hp priced from £15,900. A new “Easy Air” special edition adds manual air conditioning to the Easy model for an additional £345. The Easy 1.6-litre MultiJet 2 90hp Dualogic (equipped with Fiat’s automated-manual transmission) is priced at £16,700.
The new top-of-the-range Lounge model gains air conditioning; 16-inch alloy wheels; rear parking sensors; an audio system upgrade including Bluetooth and USB/Aux-in connectivity; rear electric windows; power folding door mirrors; a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob; dark tinted windows and cruise control. Prices starts at £17,980 for the 1.6-litre MultiJet 2 105hp, while the 1.6-litre MultiJet 2 90hp Dualogic version (equipped with automated-manual transmission) is priced from £18,780.Published 13 December 2014
