The new Fiat 500 has gone on sale priced from £10,160 Pop 1.2 69hp hatchback, with the convertible range starting at £13,160.

What’s New?

According to Fiat one of the key new features is the introduction of a new seven-inch TFT digital instrument display, developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli, which we quote, “seamlessly combines cutting-edge technology without disrupting the trademark aesthetics of the cabin”. It is standard on the 500S and Cult model, an option for the Lounge editions. It displays key information such as the distance travelled, instant fuel consumption and range. It indicates Gear Shift recommendations; warning messages and a more sophisticated media player, telephone and navigation information readouts, including junction graphics and real-time traffic updates when equipped with a portable TomTom 2 Live satellite navigation system.

On models powered by the new 105hp 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine when the sport button is engaged it transforms into a turbo-boost gauge. The six-speed 105hp 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine is a new edition to the TwinAir engine family and features a Start&Stop fuel-saving system. It delivers 105hp/145Nm in Sport mode (98hp/120Nm Eco mode) and is capable of 0-62 mph in 10 seconds and a top speed of 117 mph. On the official combined cycle it is capable of 67.3 mpg and CO2 emissions are rated at 99 g/km.

The entry-level engine remains the 69hp 1.2-litre petrol (113g/km) unit, which is joined by the TwinAir 85hp Turbo Petrol (92g/km) and 1.3 16v MultiJet 95hp turbo diesel (97g/km). A Dualogic automatic transmission is available on the 1.2 69hp and TwinAir 85hp engines.

Core safety equipment for the Fiat 500 includes ABS with EBD, seven airbags (including a driver’s knee bag), ISOFIX attachments and daytime running lights (DRL). It is disappointing that ESP, with ASR/MSR and Hill Holder is an option on the lower grade models.
