Ten Terios Join Europe's Largest 4x4 Fleet

Europe’s largest 4x4 hire fleet – SHB Hire Ltd of Southampton – has taken delivery of 10 Daihatsu Terios models – one of the smallest sport utility vehicles on the market.

The diminutive Daihatsus will join 1,800 off-roaders which are put to a variety of uses by demanding customers.

SHB Hire Ltd has been hiring out 4x4s since 1968 and chose five Terios EL manuals and five EL automatics after extensive evaluation.

The 1.3 litre five-door mini-SUV features permanent four-wheel drive and a useful 185 mm ground clearance yet gives 41.5 mpg on the Extra Urban Cycle. In fact, for the third year running the Terios tops the Environmental Transport Association’s ‘Car Buyer’s Guide' in the ‘Off-Road’ section.

Commenting on the deal, Daihatsu Fleet Manager, George Bushney, said: "I am confident more business will follow once SHB realises how nimble, reliable and fuel-efficient the Terios is in service."
