Daihatsu Delivers Special Edition For 2003 Scottish Motor Show

Published: 10th November 2003
Terios Tracker and Sport

The standard Terios line-up includes two models, Sport and Tracker. Both models come with full-time four-wheel drive, driver and passenger airbags, power steering, front electric windows, electric door mirrors, CD tuner and central locking as standard.

The Tracker is available from just £9.995, while the Sport costs £11,995. Automatic transmission is an option for both.

Copen – Now On Sale

Sharing the limelight on the Daihatsu stand, number 4030 in Hall 4, will be the Copen sportscar, which makes its first official UK appearance since going on sale at the beginning of November.

Priced at £12,995 on-the-road, the Copen comes with the option of a red leather pack for an additional £500 and is available with silver, black or yellow.

Coined from ‘Compact’ and ‘Open’, as its name suggests, the Copen offers the best of both worlds. With its lightweight aluminium roof raised, it boasts coupe-like weather resistance and security, while lowering the roof converts it into a compact roadster.

The Copen has a turbocharger designed exclusively for the car that provides a smooth, strong response from as low as 2,000 rpm from its all-aluminium 16 valve, 659 cc four cylinder engine.

Maximum power is 64 PS at a surprisingly low 6,000 rpm while peak torque of 81 lb.ft is at an even more remarkable 3,200 rpm, providing good low-speed flexibility.

Charade – Highly Praised, High Value Super City Car

Since its launch at the start of the year, press and public alike have heaped praise on the all-new Charade. The show marks its first ‘official’ appearance since its launch earlier this year, as it was not shown at the 2002 British International Motor Show.

The ride quality has been compared to that of cars more than four times its price, while its 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine has been praised for its performance and widely described as ‘brim-full’ of character.

Perhaps the single most common compliment attributed to the Charade, however, has been the incredible value it represents from just £5,995 on-the-road.

Three models make up the Charade range, the entry level 3-door EL, the 5-door EL and the range-topping 5-door SL.

Standard features across the range include ABS with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), driver and passenger airbags, front electric windows and power steering among many other features. The SL model adds side airbags, air-conditioning and alloy wheels.
