Citroen's Xsara Picasso Plays Its Cards Right

Published: 19th February 2004
To help ensure that journeys are as relaxing as possible, LX models have now been upgraded to include an RDS radio/CD player, whilst attractive new wheels have also been introduced on both the LX and well-specified Desire versions. And all Desire models come with air conditioning, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), four airbags and body coloured bumpers, side mouldings and door mirrors as standard.

Meanwhile, the new Exclusive trim brings with it a whole host of welcome additions, such as automatic illumination of the headlamps, a handy boot net, a rear window sunblind and new 15" alloys. For added reassurance, the new HDi 110 models give drivers the benefits of ESP with traction control and EBA (Emergency Braking Assistance) as standard.

Retaining its sleek lines, the 2004 Xsara Picasso has also received several gentle styling enhancements. The car now features a slimmer front bumper, reshaped lower air intake and restyled double chevrons, while the headlamps have been redesigned to blend in more easily with the bonnet. The new wheels add to the refreshed feel, while chrome strips have been inserted on the front and rear bumpers of Desire and Exclusive models.

Comfortable, Spacious, Safe and Secure

Probably the most comfortable Compact MPV around, the Xsara Picasso is a real pleasure to travel in, with the bright and airy cabin offering plenty of head, leg and elbowroom for five – the preferred number of seats in this segment. Almost all models feature air conditioning as standard, while drivers benefit from a raised seating position, variable power assisted steering, and height adjustment of the driver’s seat and steering wheel.

Genuinely spacious, and with one of the largest boots in its class, the highly versatile Xsara Picasso can offer an enormous 2,128 litres of loadspace thanks to the easily removable rear seats, while the dash-mounted gearlever frees up floor room to allow access to the rear. Proving the Xsara Picasso’s attention to passenger well-being and everyday family life, it offers an array of storage space, including a 15-litre glove box, under-seat drawers, the practical Modubox folding trolley and aircraft-style trays on the back of the front seats.

As a family car, safety has always been a key consideration – a 4-star Euro NCAP rating, ABS with EBD, four airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchoring points on the outer rear seats are all standard. Security-related features include automatic locking of the doors and boot when on the move and remote control central locking with dashboard mounted button.
