The New Citroen C8 - Combining Business With Pleasure | Part Two

Citroen C8

The New C8 has a cavernous interior that can comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers with generous amounts of head, shoulder and legroom, while the QuickfixÒ instant seat anchoring system maximizes interior flexibility. By removing the rear seats the load area can easily be extended, whilst some 50 separate storage areas ensure that the New C8 is able to cater for all sorts of everyday paraphernalia.

The executive feel of the New C8 is demonstrated by various neat touches such as automatic digital tri-zone air conditioning and electric rear sliding side doors, both of which are standard on most models. Triple electric sunroofs, a stereo radio/CD player with voice-activated, integrated phone and colour-plus satellite navigation, as well as electric and heated front seats with individual seat position memory and heating controls, are also available.

Thanks to the use of advanced multiplex wiring, C8 buyers can take advantage of a whole host of innovative class ‘firsts’ such as automatic illumination of the driving lights, rain sensitive windscreen wipers and ‘guide-me-home’ headlamps. Further available features that demonstrate the executive nature of the New C8 include remote control opening/closing of the electric sliding side doors, rear parking sensors, cruise control and speed sensitive stereo volume.

With its 4-star Euro NCAP rating, the New C8 provides occupants with excellent levels of safety. All models come with six airbags as standard, including two curtain airbags to protect the heads of passengers in all three rows, as well as 3-point seatbelts all round. ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Braking Assistance is standard, while ESP with traction control is available across the range.

Adding to the safe driving experience, the New C8’s stiffened body and larger diameter anti-roll bars, plus its wider front and rear track, all combine to provide the driver with confident and sure-footed road holding and handling.

Capable of achieving 40 mpg or 122mph, the New C8 range is powered by a choice of 138hp 2.0i 16V or 160hp 2.2i 16v petrol engines - the former available with a sequential automatic gearbox and the latter making its Citroen debut - or ultra-clean 109hp 2.0HDi or 130hp 2.2 HDi diesel units, both of which are fitted with the Company’s award-winning Particulate Filter.

Buyers can choose from four well appointed trim levels - LX, SX, Exclusive and Exclusive Captain Chair - with recommended retail prices ranging from £18,295 for the entry-level 2.0i 16V LX to £26,095 for the 2.2HDi Exclusive Captain Chair which offers six luxurious ‘captain chairs’ in full leather upholstery.

"With the New C8, Citroen has designed a model that raises the standards by offering a class-leading blend of style, space, technology, refinement and safety. It will offer buyers a real alternative to the traditional big-sellers in the class and will complement the smaller Xsara Picasso and Berlingo Multispace people carriers which, already best-sellers in their respective sectors, have proved Citroen’s ability to make MPVs that people really want to buy."
