Citroen Sports A Fresh Fleet Solution - The C5 VTR
Published: 14th February 2003
James Parfett, Citroen’s national fleet sales
manager, comments, "The fleet appeal of the C5 range
will be increased, especially among younger user-choosers,
thanks to the C5 VTR’s even higher value-for-money sports
package. To celebrate the launch of this model, Citroen
is offering fleet-buyers a stylish sports pack at no extra
charge, meaning that the petrol C5 VTR offers some £1,900
of additional equipment over the equivalent LX, but at just
£800 more."
C5 VTR models are set apart from the rest of the range by
a unique sporty exterior and interior package that includes:-
- Hungaro 16in alloy wheels
- Sporty blue/grey interior trim and blue seat belts
- Leather steering wheel
- "Carbon fibre" effect inserts on central console and front/rear door panels
- Anti-theft alarm
- Rear wash/wipe
Though designed to project a sporting image, these new models also include a wide range of additional features to ensure that the C5 VTR is an efficient, safe and practical means of business transport. As such drivers benefit from air conditioning, six airbags, ABS with EBA and EBD, RDS radio/CD player, Trafficmaster Oracle and advanced Citroen Hydractive 3 computer-controlled suspension, which provides both exceptional road holding and class-leading ride comfort.
Estate versions of the C5 VTR are fitted with aluminum effect roof bars, a retractable passenger cabin safety net and a reversible protective boot net, and have many additional load carrying advantages, including:-
- Self-leveling suspension (no more nose-up driving when heavily laden)
- Boot-mounted load-height adjuster to raise/lower loading height from 493 – 653mm
- Long, flat load floor and class-leading seat-up load volume (563 litres {seat up} or 1658 litres {seat down})
- Separate, opening rear window in tailgate
With very competitive recommended retail prices that start from just £15,495, and insurance group ratings which start at 8E, the C5 VTR range includes both saloon and estate models with a choice, dependent on model, of manual or sequential, auto-adaptive, automatic gearboxes.
The manual saloon version of the new 2.0HDi 110hp C5 VTR returns up to 50mpg on the combined cycle and a tax-busting CO2 figure of 147g/km, helping it to fall into the 18% BIK category, while the 1.8i 16V C5 VTR saloon has a 19% BIK rating, with CO2 emissions of 182g/km and a combined figure of almost 37 mpg.
The five-strong Citroen C5 VTR range is made up of the:-
