Citroen Scores With C8 & New Look Berlingo At Fleet World Honours

Published: 17th May 2003
The New Citroen C8

The recently launched Citroen C8 has just won its first UK award – being voted Best MPV at the Fleet World Honours 2003 presentation held in London on 14 May. Also, at the same event, the New Look Berlingo added to the long list of silverware already gained by this model by winning the Commercial Fleet World’s Best Light Van Honour.

The Citroen C8 was rated as the best vehicle yet in this highly competitive sector of the market. It appealed to the judging panel with its impressive list of safety features (it has just gained the highest five star Euro NCAP safety rating), excellent range of engines and high level of specification. Ross Durkin, Fleet World editor, said, "The Citroen C8 combines practicality with versatility and its exterior styling is every bit as stylish as a user-chooser could ask for."

The New Look Berlingo was commended for its ability to set the pace in the light van sector. Gibb Grace, Commercial Fleet World editor, comments, "These models represent an excellent blend of car-like performance and light commercial functionality. The 2.0HDi engine, in particular, is quiet, strong and extremely frugal. In short these vehicles are the ideal sub-two tonne vans."

James Parfett, Citroen’s national fleet manager, comments, "Citroen is delighted to win these two prestigious Fleet World Honours. The C8 brings to the MPV sector an unrivalled combination of safety, style, versatility and value and the New Look Berlingo continues to deliver a winning blend of efficiency and economy which is appreciated by a wide range of van operators."
