Michelin, the world’s largest tyre producer, is now taking delivery of its first Citroen Xsara Enterprise and New Look Berlingo vans. The company, which has its UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, has ordered 24 new Citroen light commercial vehicles.

The new Citroens, which were supplied by Reg Vardy, Stoke-on-Trent, will be operated by Michelin’s Fleet Solutions division. This operation provides specialist tyre services to truck, bus and coach operators. In this role, the vehicles are operated on four year, 80,000 mile with maintenance Lex Vehicle Leasing contract hire agreements.

The new Citroen Xsara Enterprise vans, which are among the first to go into major fleet customer service, are allocated to five newly appointed fleet inspectors and staff trainers. John Stack, Michelin Tyre plc’s fleet manager explains, "The Xsara Enterprise provides our company with the best of both worlds. They have load carrying practicality, together with car-type looks, performance and comfort. As soon as I saw this vehicle at the NEC Motor Show, I knew that it was ideal for the new supervisory and training roles within Fleet Solutions."

The New Look Berlingo 1.9D LX 600 vans will be used by Michelin Fleet Solutions service engineers. In this role they will be required to carry tools and other specialist equipment as well as truck/bus wheels and tyres on occasion.

Brian Roskell, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, comments, "The Xsara Enterprise van is designed to suit a wide range of business transport applications. It complements the New Look Berlingo and allows Citroen to provide its light commercial vehicle customers with a unique business transport solution."
