Citroen At The British International Motor Show

3 New Production Cars - 2 New Concept Cars - 1 Unmissable Stand

Three brand new production models - the Citroen C3 Pluriel, the C8 and the New Look Berlingo Multispace - will be making their UK Show debuts at this year’s British International Motor Show at the Birmingham NEC (stand number 3370).

And on a stand where almost half of all models featured will also be making their UK show debuts, Citroen’s three newcomers will be joined by two concept cars - the aerodynamic C-Airdream and technically advanced C-Crosser - as well as the superb Xsara WRC and a selection of other models from Citroen’s most popular ever line-up.

Proving that a concept car can make it to production almost unchanged, the Citroen C3 Pluriel is a chic, fun and funky everyday supermini with a dramatic difference. Thanks to its unique roof system, the C3 Pluriel can be transformed into one of five different configurations, such as a saloon, cabriolet or even pick-up.

Alongside the C3 Pluriel will be the all new Citroen C8, an executive MPV that is set to bring an exclusive touch to family motoring. Highly acclaimed, even before its UK launch in 2003, this stylish and spacious people carrier will provide new standards of comfort, versatility, technology and safety.

A new look for the UK’s best selling value-for-money MPV, the Berlingo Multispace, sees a more robust front end complemented on the inside by a completely redesigned dashboard offering additional stowage space. Added creature comforts and multiplex-linked functions combine with mechanical improvements and increased safety levels to complete the upgrade.

Set to be one of the stars of the show, the stylish Citroen C-Airdream concept car is a high tech 2+2 coupe that combines sleek aerodynamic exterior styling with a light and bright interior, while featuring some of the latest technological advances.

Also making its UK show debut will be the Citroen C-Crosser concept car - a sports utility vehicle capable of morphing from a spacious six seater into a semi-roadster and then into a pick-up. The four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer C-Crosser demonstrates innovative ‘drive-by-wire’ technology, while the moveable steering wheel allows the driver to sit in any one of the front three seats.

Motorsport fans will be able to see the car that Colin McRae will drive in the World Rally Championship in 2003. Citroen’s awesome Xsara WRC comes fresh from a successful, experimental year that included the recent victory in the Deutschland Rally, and will be on public display in the UK for the first time.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to see the new Citroen C3 equipped with an advanced SensoDrive gearbox for the first time in the UK. Offering a "Formula 1" style paddle shift gear change, the SensoDrive gearbox will be the newest addition to the stylish, spacious and well-equipped range of C3 superminis when it hits the marketplace.

The rest of the current, record-breaking Citroen range is well represented by models such as the Saxo supermini, which recently became the company’s best selling car ever in the UK, the Xsara, including the sporty new 110hp 2.0HDi VTR Diesel Coupe, the Xsara Picasso, the country’s best selling compact MPV, and saloon and estate versions of the spacious and technologically advanced C5.
