Citroen's New Look Berlingo Multispace - Blazing A Trail For Leisure Vehicles
Published: 4th October 2002
And with sales already up by around 40% this year to some 6,000, more than its nearest rivals from Renault and Peugeot combined, the New look Berlingo Multispace will offer even more value for money when it goes on sale in the UK later this year.
Now sporting deep wraparound bumpers and squared-off clear lens headlamps, the New Look Berlingo Multispace incorporates new front wings and an almost horizontal, ribbed bonnet that have both been redesigned, complementing the neat lines of the grille. Front fog lamps and 15" alloy wheels will also be available on certain models.
On-board, the New Look Berlingo Multispace boasts a radically different colour coded dashboard design that incorporates a centrally-located display screen, colour-coded dials, a new steering wheel with controls for the stereo, and several new stowage areas. Aircraft style trays on the back of the front seats, front armrests and Citroen’s Modubox folding trolley will be available on the range for the first time.
Thanks to digital multiplex wiring, new benefits can be enjoyed such as a key fob operated ‘location’ function, automatic locking of the doors if they are accidentally unlocked or when the vehicle is in motion, remote controlled central locking and speed sensitive stereo volume. Guide-me-home headlamps, wipers that are indexed to the vehicle speed and progressive dimming of the cabin lights are also available.
Levels of safety have been increased too, with the latest models providing improved impact resistance, the availability of ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, as many as four airbags plus improvements to the steering, brakes and body structure. In addition, the newly introduced variable power assisted steering ensures easy handling.
Despite all these enhancements, the New Look Citroen Berlingo Multispace
continues to blaze the trail for highly practical, high value family motoring.
The New Look Berlingo Multispace still offers more room than the biggest
estate car, with over 600 litres of boot space, and the creature comforts
of a family hatchback, including the option of the world’s largest
sunroof and the innovative Modutop roof, all for the price of a supermini.
