23,204 - Another Citroen CV Sales Record!

1st time Berlingo is UK’s best-selling small van, and the…

2nd year that Citroen is….

3rd in up to 3.5 tonne gvw sector

In an increasingly competitive market Citroen’s commercial vehicle division achieved its highest-ever sales of 23,204 in 2002. And, for the second year in a row, Citroen was the UK’s third largest supplier of commercial vehicles in the up to 3,500kg gvw sector.

In 2002 Citroen’s C15 Champ, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay models took 9.01 per cent of light commercial vehicle sales, the company’s best-ever market share in the up to 3.5 tonne gvw sector. Year on year Citroen increased its sales by 2.74 per cent from the 22,586 achieved in 2001 – keeping ahead of Mercedes, Renault, Volkswagen, Peugeot, LDV and Fiat.

The Berlingo and Dispatch both performed extremely well in 2002. The Berlingo ended the year as the UK’s best-selling small van – outselling the Vauxhall Combo, the Renault Kangoo, Peugeot Partner, Fiat Doblo Cargo and Volkswagen Caddy. Dispatch sales also grew strongly – this popular model ended the year in second place in its sector.

In 2002 sales of each Citroen commercial vehicle model were:-

C15 Champ 2,332
Berlingo 11,830
Dispatch 4,374
Relay 4,661

(plus 7 pre-launch Xsara Enterprise models)

Brian Roskell, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, comments, "Once again Citroen’s optimum product, value for money and aftersales benefits package has delivered record commercial vehicle sales. We enter 2003 in our strongest-ever position with the just launched New Look Berlingo and New Look Relay now readily available, and the imminent launch of the Xsara Enterprise later this month."
