Citroen Adds To The Horsepower At The Grand National
Published: 16th March 2006
Citroen has become a new official partner to one of Britain’s most loved sporting events, the Grand National.
In the two-year deal Citroen will also feature in two races at Aintree’s world famous steeplechase course: the Citroen C4 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle at 4.55pm on 6 April and the BBC-televised Citroen C6 Sefton Novices’ Hurdle at 2.35pm on 7 April.
The Company will also support the popular ‘Looking Good Style Contest’ at the three day meeting (Thur 6 – Sat 8 April) by offering a Citroen C4 to the best dressed race-goer, as voted by a panel of expert judges.
As the Official Vehicle Supplier, Citroen will provide the new flagship of the range, the C6 as well as C5 and C8 models for chauffeuring VIPs, celebrities and course officials throughout the Grand National meeting.
Charles Barnett, Managing Director of Aintree said: "Citroen is a very progressive company and has a long track record of promotional activity in racing so they will be excellent partners for us. Their product range fits well with the diverse audiences the meeting delivers, so it is a very appropriate partnership."
The John Smith’s Grand National is the UK’s largest non-football sporting event and was seen last year by more than 10 million people in the UK alone, with a global audience of around 600 million. For 2006 Aintree is expecting to attract over 150,000 race-goers over the three-day meet.
