The new Citroen DS5 has been awarded a five star NCAP safety rating with a 97 per cent score in the 'Safety Assist' category.
The Citroen DS5 features a reinforced body structure and a range of protection-enhancing technologies and safety features, including Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, Intelligent Traction Control, an advanced speed-limiter/cruise control system and a cornering light function.
The Citroen DS5's 'Creative Technologie' equipment were responsible for the NCAP safety results. The technology includes:
- A new-generation Lane Departure Warning System that uses a camera built into the upper part of the windscreen to asses the road ahead and will alert the driver when they drift off line.
- An automatic high-beam function that, using images processed from the same camera, will activate and deactivate the high-beam setting depending on lighting conditions and surrounding traffic.
- A colour head-up display that shows key driving information - including speed, speed-limiter/cruise control and navigation system settings - directly in the driver's view.
The Euro NCAP Advanced award was presented as a result of the Citroen eTouch Emergency & Assistance system. The award is given to innovative systems which ensure the highest safety levels whilst retaining mass market affordability. The Citroen eTouch system can automatically or manually make emergency and assistance calls by using a built in SIM card, which allows for precise vehicle localisation.
Linda Jackson, Citroen UK's Managing Director, commented; "Attention to safety is paramount in any Citroen model and we're delighted that New DS5 has performed so well in the latest Euro NCAP tests.
