It is expected that 6000 Citroen 2CVs will be attending the 19th International 'Amis de la 2CV' event.

The event is held every two years, with participants travelling from across the globe to celebrate the Citroen 2CV. The 2011 event is expected to be the biggest to date and will include many of Europe's 2CF owner's clubs.

The Amis de la 2CV will be held on a 60 hectare site near Salbris in Central France, where four pre-war prototype Citroen 2CVs will be on show, joined by the Citroen REVOLTe concept, which was inspired by the design of the 2CV.

Most of the 250 prototype Citroen 2CVs, developed in the 1930s, were destroyed before the war. However, three were hidden to stop them being taken by the enemy, with a fourth being stored by Michelin. The Citroen 2CV was unveiled at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, eventually totaling 5,113,940 units sold between 1948 and 1990.

At the Amis de la 2CV will be a number of events and activities, including a 2CV 'disassemble-reassemble' competition, bring and buy sale, events for children and driving simulators. For those attending who wish to visit the local region, a number of road routes will be provided and a small number of 2CVs available to either discover or rediscover the experience of driving a Citroen 2CV.
