Chrysler and Jeep has undertaken a wide-ranging review of its Genuine Approved Used (GAU) Car Scheme for all vehicles under five years old with less than 60,000 miles on the clock, which has resulted in an enhancement of the services available to the marque’s customers.
Used car buyers are increasingly demanding all the peace of mind benefits associated with a new car purchase and Chrysler and Jeep has responded to these requests by offering the same level of cover for used cars as new. There are certain assurances a customer expects when buying a used car. They have the right to know that the car is what it claims to be; that it has not been written off or stolen; that it is not still subject to a finance agreement and that the recorded mileage is genuine.
All Chrysler and Jeep approved dealers carry out all these checks and verify them in writing before the used car is put on display. The GAU programme enhancements are detailed below:
A 12-month unlimited mileage Chrysler and Jeep Manufacturer type cover is offered as standard giving used cars the same level of coverage as new cars.
All vehicles undergo a multi point inspection by Chrysler and Jeep technicians at a certified dealership, any faults found are rectified before the car goes on sale. Full documentation is given to the customer.
- Full roadside assistance is available during the period of the warranty.
- Full Vehicle History and mileage check carried out by independent companies.
- Optional 12-24 month warranty extension.
30-day 'no hassle' vehicle exchange policy - this means that if a customer is not entirely satisfied with the vehicle supplied, they can elect to exchange it at the same dealership for another of equal age and value.
Martin Suter, Chrysler and Jeep Used Car Manager said: "Over the last couple of years demand for used Chrysler and Jeep vehicles has been growing and residuals strengthening. Our dealers are aware of the increasing demand among buyers of used vehicles for greater security and peace of mind and this new programme will allow us to provide one of the best packages in the business at the moment."Published 8 January 2004
