The new convertible combines stunning good looks with a powerful 3.2-litre V6 engine, a powered fabric roof and super-stiff bodyshell, all for £27,995.
The Roadster shares the Coupe’s stunning rear view with a tapered, "boat tail" appearance that emphasises the car’s 19" rear wheels plus a retractable spoiler that activates when the car reaches 60 mph.
To achieve an even more dynamic appearance, the Roadster features satin silver painted sport bars that appear just behind the driver and passenger seats. Two race-inspired fairings integrated into the top of the tonneau cover complete the dynamic appearance of the sports car.
The new 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster features a 3.2-litre 90-degree V-6, 18-valve SOHC engine, and reaches a top speed of 150 mph and 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds.
The Roadster is available with a six-speed manual gearbox at £27,995 or a five-speed automatic transmission for £29,235. ESP, cruise control, leather upholstery and air conditioning all come as standard.
To retain its sports car ride and handling, the Chrysler Crossfire Roadster’s bodyshell has been engineered for its new role as a convertible to ensure the maximum retention of torsional rigidity and structural integrity. With this additional strengthening the Crossfire Roadster weighs just 36 kg (80 lbs) more than the coupe.
"The new Chrysler Crossfire Roadster is an absolutely stunning car and captures the spirit of the Crossfire coupe," said Simon Elliott, Managing Director for Chrysler Group in the UK. "The Roadster, with its great looks and performance – top up or down - will present a formidable challenge to its competitors in one of most hotly contested convertible segments in the world."
For open-air motoring, the top goes down in 22 seconds. The driver simply has to pull down the centre-mounted handle on the windscreen header and turn the handle – which releases the convertible fabric top and lowers the side windows. Press the button on the centre console, and the Chrysler Crossfire Roadster’s fully automatic powered roof system then takes control, opening the hard tonneau cover, folding away the fabric top, and closing the tonneau cover. When the top is down, no trace of the fabric top remains.
In the UK, Chrysler Crossfire Roadster customers will benefit from a peace-of-mind package which includes a comprehensive warranty and European roadside assistance package for three years/60,000 plus seven years’ unlimited mileage anti-corrosion guarantee.
The Crossfire Roadster is available in UK Chrysler dealers from mid-June.
