Engine options for the Chrysler Ypsilon include the 2011 International Engine of the Year, the TwinAir, a 0.9 litre turbo offering either a sporting drive or class-leading economy.

The new Chrysler Ypsilon will be introduced into the UK supermini market, offering style, technology and efficient engines into a 3.8 metre long 5 door vehicle. The Chrysler Ypsilon has been designed with a five door body shape with the appearance of a three door with hidden rear door handles.

On sale now, the Chrysler Ypsilon introduces a number of new technologies to the supermini segment, including Magic parking, xenon headlights, Blue&Me TomTom LIVE and Smart Fuel System.

Chrysler brand director Nigel Land says: "Through the launch of Ypsilon and Delta we now have a range that encompasses both the small and medium passenger car markets with vehicles that are notably well designed, ensuring that they really are credible alternatives to the mainstream. They are equipped with all the features you would expect from a large Chrysler, integrated with stylish European designed interiors."

Three trim levels will be available for selection. The Chrysler Ypsilon S, Se and Limited. 16 paint combinations, of which four are bi-colour, five different upholstery trims and three types of alloy wheel can all be specified. A piano black interior trim and special key fobs, as well as special wheels can be ordered from Chrysler dealerships.

Depending on the trim Level, automatic climate control, fog lights, 16 inch wheels, cruise control, leather steering wheel with audio controls, dusk and rain sensors, parking sensors and a 500 watt surround sound music system can be specified for the Chrysler Ypsilon.

Safety equipment for the Chrysler Ypsilon includes up to six airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC – standard on Auto, optional on SE and Limited), Anti Slip Regulation (ASR), traction control and Hill Holder.

Also available is a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre turbo diesel. All engines come with Start&Stop as standard to improve fuel consumption and emissions.

An optional feature for the Chrysler Ypsilon is Magic Parking, which is activated by a button on the dashboard which utilises front and rear sensors and wheel speed sensors to measure empty parking spaces. If the system detects a spot which is large enough to fit, the driver will be notified by a beeping noise and a message on the dash. The computer will take over the steering in order to complete the parallel park. Speed and braking is still controlled by the driver who can deactivate the system at any point by turning the wheel, changing out of reverse or pressing the button on the dashboard.
