Chrysler Delta ReviewChrysler Delta Review | Part Two

The Delta is a bit of an oddball, with quirky looks, a badge-engineered identity and some significiant deficiencies in the way it drives.

Safety and Security

The front seats have pre-tensioners and anti-whiplash head-restraints and the Delta comes with six airbags as standard kit. Dynamic Stability Control is also standard, with a hill-holder function. Three Isofix rear seat connections are provided for attaching child safety equipment. The front foglights have a cornering function, and the hazard lights activate automatically under emergency braking.

Infotainment

The Delta comes fitted with a good quality radio and CD player with MP3 compatibility, but if you want to be able to connect MP3 devices and also have Bluetooth connectivity, the two come as a joint option for an extra £550.

Rivals
  • SEAT Leon 1.6 TDi
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 HDi
  • Renault Megane 1.5 dCi
  • Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi
What We Liked
  • Roominess
  • Distinctive cabin design
  • Good mpg from MultiJet engine
  • Rear seat flexibility and variable boot size
What We Disliked
  • Mediocre ride quality
  • Handling that leaves much to be desired
  • From some angles, those weird looks
What We'd Like To See
  • Much higher calibre ride and handling
Conclusion

The Delta is a bit of an oddball, with quirky looks, a badge-engineered identity and some significiant deficiencies in the way it drives. A keen and discerning driver may find it a disappointment, especially from a ride and handling viewpoint. But a less committed driver who is looking for a roomy and reasonably priced car, and who fancies something stylistically a bit different, should certainly take a look. It will especially appeal to anyone with a soft spot for Lancias.
