Parts Price Reductions And Two-Year Warranty Heads Off 'Spurious Parts'

With the announcement of a significant parts price reduction programme and the streamlining of its parts supply chain, GM Daewoo is embarking on a nationwide trade communication programme. A new glossy brochure containing the facts and figures is being mailed to independent garages across the country, introducing the price reductions, a new range of remanufactured engines at highly competitive prices and listing all Daewoo parts retailers. Daewoo (from January 1 2005, Chevrolet) will now be communicating with the motor trade on a regular basis with news of parts updates, offers and updated contact details.

200,000 vehicles need servicing

The Daewoo car ‘parc’ is now around 200,000 units in the UK with the older vehicles now being in the hands of many members of the independent motor trade. The preference to use ‘original equipment’ parts goes hand in hand with pricing hence this comprehensive action by Daewoo. John Sanderson, Aftersales Director for GM Daewoo said, ‘Uncompetitive parts prices grow the use of unapproved parts. Our investigations show some of these parts to be spurious and in many cases highly dangerous. Our price reduction programme and this new communications exercise are designed to head off these spurious parts and provide our trade colleagues and their customers with the peace of mind associated with the ownership of a new Daewoo car.’

Up to 91% saving on new parts - and 97% availability

Daewoo parts prices have always been competitive but are now top of the tree. Price reductions range from 5% on brake drums to a massive 91% on pollen filters with an average of 34% across the range. Important items such as exhaust systems (34% down), brake pad sets (43% down) and timing belts (56% down) illustrate the huge savings available right now. Prices have also been reduced by 35% on panel and crash repair components.

Europe-wide two-year warranty

Everything is available from a single source - around 90 Daewoo retailers (Chevrolet from January 1 2005) across the country - and is covered by a two-year warranty. These retailers are also in the best position to advise on those more difficult jobs, particularly where special tools may be required.

New remanufactured engine range

A new range of comprehensively remanufactured (not simply reconditioned) engines is now available. Each comes complete with spark plugs, fitted sump, water pump and oil and there is nothing left to chance in the manufacturing process. Any components that are in any way suspect are scrapped and replaced with new and between 140 and 220 new parts are fitted to each engine. Prices range from £650 for a Matiz 3-cylinder, 800cc unit to £1200 for a 2-litre Nubira/Leganza unit.
