1 Million Daewoo Cars Sold In Europe
Published: 15th November 2002
Nearly 200,000 Customers In The UK
Coinciding almost exactly with the establishment of the new GM Daewoo company, the millionth Daewoo sold in Western Europe has been handed over to a customer in Austria. The car, a Matiz SE, was delivered to a long-standing Austrian customer in Salzburg last Friday 18 October. Daewoo has reached the one million mark in seven years – faster than any other Korean brand. At 330,000 units, the Matiz has been the most successful Daewoo since the Korean brand came to Europe in 1995.
“That is a great achievement,” said Andy
Carroll, Managing Director of GM Daewoo UK Ltd. “Daewoo
is a successful brand across Europe and the UK market has
historically been one of its greatest strengths. With one
million cars now sold in Europe and the approach of our 200,000th
customer in the UK, I am convinced that we can drive Daewoo
to even greater success. With the all-new Kalos coming to
our showrooms very soon and other new models and engines around
the corner, we will be offering our customers some really
exciting products and exceptional value – which is what
Daewoo is all about.”
