Daewoo First Volume Car Manufacturer To Offer DAB Digital Radio
Published: 18th March 2004
The new Daewoo Lacetti is a three model range – the 1.4 SE and 1.6 SX variants are available now, with a 1.8 litre flagship model to be announced at Motor Show Live in May. This five-door family hatch is priced from £9495 and includes a Blaupunkt RDS radio/single CD player as standard. As you would expect from a value brand, the DAB digital radio option is also very keenly priced at just £295.
DAB offers unique new radio services, along with familiar stations that may not be available locally on analogue radio, and many old favourites rebroadcast in improved, digital sound quality. A DAB digital radio can double the number of stations you can receive.
National DAB services are available to more than 85% of the UK population – you can check coverage at www.digitalradionow.com
The Blaupunkt unit for Lacetti is the Woodstock DAB 53 which features a host of new facilities that take listening to the radio into a new era. They include:
- Recording function – simply insert an MMC or SD card into the unit and press OK when you hear a track that you wish to record from the station that you are listening to
- Integrated MP3 player to play CD-Rs and CD-RWs, allowing playback of up to 12 hours of MP3 formatted music on one CD-ROM – sort your favourite music on your PC and play it in the car
- Playback of standard CDs
- In addition to 20 DAB presets, 30 FM, MW and LW presets
An RDS automatically adjusted clock
Lacetti is in the showrooms now and many retailers are running special launch evenings to which everyone is welcome. If you visit you will have a chance to win an Acoustic Solutions Portal 2 DAB digital radio for home use. For your nearest retailer visit www.gmdaewoo.co.uk
