With the Nubira saloon, which will make its European debut at the 73rd Geneva International Motor Show (6-16 March, 2003), GM Daewoo continues with the rapid expansion of its product line-up. Packaged with Daewoo’s industry leading three-year customer care programme of free service, warranty and AA recovery, Nubira steps up the meaning of value for money. The newcomer’s clean-cut lines were styled by the renowned Italian specialists Pininfarina and this front-wheel drive medium family saloon is new from the ground up, developed with safety and comfort as its key design features. In late summer, the Nubira will enter UK showrooms with a choice of either a 1.6 (80 kW/109 hp) or 1.8-litre engine (90 kW/122 hp). The Nubira complements the already strong line up of Matiz, Kalos and Tacuma.
Also for the first time in Europe, GM Daewoo will be showing the Scope, a sporty, all-terrain concept vehicle that was first seen as the Oto at the 2002 Seoul Motor Show in Korea. Featuring a highly adaptable interior, it points the way forward for the new company in this segment of the market. The Scope is powered by a transverse, aluminium, 2.5-litre, in-line six-cylinder engine.
"Within only a few months of establishing our new company, we have launched two new cars and a range of new engines, bringing together an attractive new product line-up with wide ranging appeal," says Andy Carroll, Managing Director of GM Daewoo UK. "We are wholly focused on customer satisfaction and with a new UK retail network and these great new cars, I believe that we are moving out of the transition phase and can now begin to really grow the business."
