Andy Carroll To Head Up The New GM Daewoo Organisation In The UK
Published: 7th August 2002
Carroll was Chief Operating Officer of OneSwoop.com in the UK and prior to this was the head of Commercial Vehicle Sales for General Motors Europe, based in Germany. He will report directly to Hardy Spranger, recently announced as Executive in Charge of GM DAT (GM Daewoo Auto and Technology) Europe.
General Motors and some of its alliance partners will be the major shareholders in GM DAT based in Korea. Becoming operational in the fourth quarter of 2002, it will take over certain assets of the Daewoo Motor Company, excluding the existing import and distribution company in the UK.
The UK transition team will establish the new wholesale and retail organisations in the UK, ensuring that existing and future customers can continue to rely on a high quality vehicle sales, service and warranty operation.
The new company will be a viable, customer-orientated business, backed
by the global resources of GM. Andy Carroll said: ‘I believe
that Daewoo has a very exciting future in the UK. It can now benefit from
the GM link and will be positioned to take full advantage of the changes
facing the automotive sector in the coming years. Our first and major
priority is naturally the current Daewoo owners and our objective is to
maintain their confidence in Daewoo by ensuring that the switchover of
responsibility to GM Daewoo is as smooth for them as possible’.
