The UK’s Best-Selling Mini MPV Is Now Available With A 4-Cylinder 1.0 Litre Engine
Daewoo’s best selling Matiz – the city car with style – is now available with a new 1.0 litre 4-cylinder engine in addition to the existing 800cc 3-cylinder unit. Offering a 24% increase in power and a 26% increase in torque with superb refinement, the new 1.0 litre engine is available in all derivatives for just £300 over the 800cc version. Matiz has always been acclaimed for its sprightly performance about town but for the motorist who travels longer distances or requires more overtaking performance, the 1.0 Matiz provides the perfect alternative. And as an extra bonus, the new 1.0 SE model starts at £6295 as it qualifies for the £600 customer saving currently available on the Matiz range at Daewoo retailers – but only until 31 March 2003.
More Performance, Improved Emissions, Improved Refinement
Since its launch, Matiz has been available with a three-cylinder 800cc engine developing 52Ps. The new 1.0 litre engine develops 64Ps for more sporty performance and with 26% more torque has much improved driveability – and it’s also cleaner with CO2 emissions reduced by 3g/km. The four-cylinders also deliver totally different driving characteristics to the 800cc 3-cylinder with reduced engine noise contributing to an overall increase in refinement. Both engines relay their power to a chassis that’s designed to be nimble yet comfortable. It has a wheel-at-each-corner footprint – front suspension consists of independent, MacPherson struts with coil springs and hydraulic dampers; the rear independent, isolated trailing links with coil springs and hydraulic dampers. With standard features including twin airbags, power steering, a 60/40 split fold rear seat and an RDS stereo radio/cassette and the availability of electric front windows, central door locking, ABS and even air conditioning, all wrapped up with a standard, comprehensive three-year customer care package, Matiz is a smart buy.
