Daewoo Kalos Sport
Sporting style and enhanced chassis dynamics but affordable
The new Kalos Sport takes the special edition Kalos Blue theme into a more mainstream derivative, complementing its new Lacetti Sport big sister. For 2005 Model Year, Kalos Sport will be available in a range of three colours but retains all the additional design features that enhance the already fashionable and appealing style of Daewoo’s small family hatchback. Kalos Sport’s look is complemented by the use of lower and stiffer springs and gas-filled dampers, offering sharper chassis dynamics for more spirited driving enjoyment – and all for just £9,995 on the road.
Kalos Sport is a 1.4 litre, 16v five-door hatchback. It has been specifically designed to appeal to the younger motorist looking for modern, sporting style and good driving characteristics but without the sting in the tail of high insurance and running costs.
Kalos Sport is not an overt, high performance GTi although with its 94 Ps 16 valve engine is no slouch, with a top speed of 109 mph and a 0-62 mph time of 11.1 seconds. It benefits from all the safety, comfort and convenience equipment that has become a Daewoo hallmark, including twin front and side airbags, power steering, ABS, central door locking, power front and side windows and CD player, but adds full length body-coloured sill finishers and front and rear bumper spoilers, unique 15"x6J alloy wheels finished in high-power silver and shod with 195/50VR-15 tyres, 25 mm lowered suspension utilising stiffer springs and a new through-flow rear silencer, with chrome tailpipe, for a more sporting exhaust note.
The already light, airy and spacious interior of the five-door body is further improved with a two-tone leather covered steering wheel and leather gear knob, stainless steel door sill kick plates and brushed aluminium detailing for the instruments and facia centre vents. Kalos Sport will be available in a choice of three body colours – Pearl Black mica, Poly Silver metallic and Super Red.
Not only is Kalos Sport a value for money purchase, it’s value for money to run with an insurance group of 6A (with standard Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser) and Daewoo’s leading peace of mind package featuring 3-years’/60,000 miles free servicing, 3-years’/60,000 mile warranty and 3-years’ AA roadside assistance, plus an Institute of Advanced Motorists driving course.
Kalos Sport will be available at Daewoo retailers across the UK from September.
