The Chevrolet Volt, driven to its display stand in electric-only mode, avoiding the London Congestion Charge due to the electric drivetrain, E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle), which provides power directly to the car's wheels.

The Chevrolet Volts has become the first vehicle to appear in the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' exhibition area at the new premises in Westminster. The showroom-style space highlights the scale of modern UK automotive industry to visitors and passers-by.

The Chevrolet Volt, driven to its display stand in electric-only mode, avoiding the London Congestion Charge due to the electric drivetrain, E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle), which provides power directly to the car's wheels. The petrol engine is used to generate power for the battery, offering a maximum range of 60 miles in full electric mode.

The Chevrolet Volt will go on sale in March 2012 and benefits from the full £5000 from the government's plug-in car grant.
