With the family holiday just around the corner or a long trip to the relatives coming up, the new Chevrolet Tacuma Vision could be your saviour. ‘Are we nearly there’ and ‘I’m bored’ will become a thing of the past with the Tacuma Vision as a DVD player with twin screens comes as standard along with darkened privacy glass in the rear. Now the children can while-away the hours in air conditioned comfort with their latest movie, giving tired parents some peace and even some quiet as the sound comes via headphones on a wireless infra red link with no trailing cables.
The Chevrolet Tacuma Vision is based on the 2006 model Tacuma 1.6SX five-seat MPV but even with the DVD player and twin screens plus the dark glass, it’s only £10,995 on the road.
Tacuma SX is ideal for a family, with space for five in comfort. All three rear seats can be individually folded, or even completely removed for carrying long or awkward loads and even with the rear seats in position there is ample loadspace. The 2006 Model Tacuma 1.6SX Vision will achieve nearly 45mpg on the extra-urban cycle (with its Euro IV engine, an improvement of over 6% on the previous model) and run to a top speed of 104mph.
Equipment levels are high with convenience features such as power steering, electric windows all round and remote central door locking all fitted as standard. More helpful features for the children are twin front seat back folding picnic tables, a picnic tray on the rear of the central rear seat back when folded and the mandatory cup holders. Driver comfort comes with a tilting steering column, height adjustable seat with a centre folding armrest and steering wheel mounted controls for the Blaupunkt RDS radio/single CD player. Twin front and side airbags are also standard. Both driver and passenger have an underseat storage tray and there are two underfloor lockers in the rear compartment - for the DVD selection maybe?
The compact DVD player is fully portable so it can be used out of the vehicle when you arrive at the holiday destination or in the home. The two screen units (one of which contains the DVD player) have 7" TFT screens for 16/9 widescreen viewing and, for out-of-vehicle use, the player has a rechargeable battery or can be used on a 240V mains supply. It also has a built in stand and speakers. The units fit to the rear of the front seat head rests with stylish stretch covers.
The Chevrolet Tacuma Vision is great value and is available now. It comes with Chevrolet’s three year free servicing package, three years’ free AA Total recovery and a three year warranty.Published 10 August 2005
