The loadspace holds up to 145 litres (VDA standard). In both SE and LE, the asymmetrically split rear seat back can be folded down to transport longer objects. If the entire bench is folded back, the loading capacity increases to a remarkable 830 litres. A grip on the outside of the tailgate and a scratchproof plastic strip on the top edge of the bumper make for easy use of the loading area.
ABS and twin airbags standard
In case of an accident, the crash-optimised body structure and the modern retention systems as well as two front airbags and three-point belts at all seat positions with front belt tensioners, are on hand to protect the occupants. The safety potential of the modern chassis with McPherson struts at the front and a torsion-beam axle at the rear, are enhanced with an ABS brake system.
Lots of features and lots of value
The Matiz is small in its dimensions, but in no way lean on equipment: numerous convenient details that were once reserved for higher classes of cars are offered as standard including power-assisted steering, electrically operated windows at the front, central locking system and engine immobiliser, Blaupunkt RDS Radio / Single CD player, remote releases for fuel filler and boot, split/fold rear seat and even a shopping hook on the head resytraint – and that’s just the SE model priced at £5995!
The LE is priced at £6995 and adds air conditioning, alloy wheels, electric passenger door mirror, metallic finish to the centre console/instrument panel and a rear roof spoiler.
