Exterior features of the Chevrolet Malibu include Chevrolet's signature dual-port grille, powerful Xenon or high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, large Chevrolet bow-tie badges in front and rear, and LED dual-element tail lamps inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro.

The Chevrolet Malibu will be have its European debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, before going on sale in Europe next year as the brand's new flagship model.

The Malibu will come on top of the seven new entries launched in Chevrolet's centennial year," said Wayne Brannon, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe. "The Chevrolet Malibu is the brand's new top-of-the-range offering, bringing proven value with a premium feel to Europe's midsize segment."

The Chevrolet Malibu ha a wheelbase of 2737mm and a track width of 1577mm. It features an integrated spoiler and a low stance to suggest an assertive look.

Exterior features of the Chevrolet Malibu include Chevrolet's signature dual-port grille, powerful Xenon or high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, large Chevrolet bow-tie badges in front and rear, and LED dual-element tail lamps inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro. Wheel sizes range from 17- to 18-inch, and nine exterior colours and up to four interior colour combinations are available, model dependent.

On the interior of the Chevrolet Malibu is an all new dual cockpit design, with metallic or chrome accents and soft ambient lighting along the instrument panel and in storage pockets.

The Chevrolet Malibu boasts a number of storage areas, include a six inch deep storage area behind an articulated seven inch touch-screen radio and navigation display. Bluetooth wireless connectivity is also available on higher-spec models.

Two engines are available, 4 cylinder petrol and diesel fuelled engines in 2.0 litre and 2.4 lire options, offering power output of 164hp and 169hp mated to either manual or automatic gearboxes for Europe.

The Chevrolet Malibu features the following chassis control technologies: four-channel anti-lock brakes (ABS), full-function traction control, four-corner electronic stability control (ESC), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist system (BA), corner brake control, hydraulic brake fade assist and drag torque control.

A total of 8 airbags feature in the Chevrolet Malibu, dual stage driver and passenger airbags, driver and front-passenger pelvic/thorax side-impact airbags as well as roof rail-airbags with rollover protection. Mid- and up-level models feature rear park assist and a rearview camera.
