With the introduction of the new Chevrolet Station Wagon, the company now offers a complete range of modern, compact-sector models off the J platform. The latest addition to the family, which already comprises the Lacetti four-door saloon and the Lacetti five-door hatch, comes to the new Chevrolet showrooms this month and will be available as a single 1.6SX derivative, comprehensively equipped. Priced at £10,995, the Lacetti Station wagon is big on specification and big on value.
Lots of space for passengers and luggage
The newcomer will undoubtedly appeal in this sector with the above-average amount of space it offers inside. The generous headroom for the driver and front-seat passenger (1,000 mm) and the plentiful legroom in the rear (932 mm) are both among the best in this class.
Beneath the large tailgate, this practical station wagon (length/width/height): 4,562/ 1,725/1,459 mm) has a capacity of between 400 to 1,410 litres (VDA standard, provisional). Apart from the 60:40 split and folding backrest, useful features of the new Station Wagon include substantial alloy roof rails as standard, an additional 12V power socket in the luggage compartment and as many as 25 individual storage spaces inside.
Its generous, standard equipment package is very similar to that already offered on its sister products and the price is extremely favourable. Amongst the standard features are power steering, air-conditioning with cooled glove box, remote central door locking and engine immobilizer, all-round power windows with drivers one-shot down, power mirrors, alloy wheels and in the rear compartment, a luggage net, a floor net and a luggage cover all standard fit. There’s even a handy special compartment for sunglasses.
1.6 litre engine and lots of features
The Chevrolet Lacetti Station Wagon is equipped with a modern four-cylinder, four-valve petrol engine. The 1.6-litre unit generates 110 Ps and propels this front-wheel drive car to a top speed of 111 mph. Fuel consumption is a moderate 34.5 mpg (MVEG combined cycle, provisional). If desired, it can be ordered with a modern, four-speed automatic transmission.
Its generous, standard equipment package will be very similar to that already offered on its sister products and the price will be extremely favourable. An important element that provides excellent dynamic qualities is the chassis, with independent suspension front and rear (tuned specifically to European driving conditions) and the car features high levels of active and passive safety. The new Station Wagon is another example of Chevrolet’s strategy of offering customers plenty of car for their money.
Chevrolet’s complete care package - cost effective ownership
Like the rest of the Chevrolet range, the Lacetti Station Wagon benefits from Chevrolet’s complete care package, with three years free servicing, comprehensive warranty and AA Total recovery service. The Chevrolet range is available throughout the UK from nearly 90 retailers.Published 14 February 2005
