Chevrolet Aveo

The test car housed the standard CD/RDS radio, which is integrated and comes with MP3 connectivity via an AUX socket. The digital display panel in the centre console appears as a series of tabs similar to that of a card index. It is very easy to use but has one annoying attribute and that is that every time the engine is switched off, the volume decreases, so, music-lovers have to adjust their dial every time they get in the car. It really is no big thing but it is irksome, nonetheless.

The Aveo comes in three trim levels; S, LS and LT. Feature list details are hard to find but the main highlights are as follows: The S has electric front windows, remote central locking and front and side airbags.

The LS is for the 5-door Aveo only and adds air-conditioning, powered and heated door mirrors, powered rear windows, a trip computer and height adjustment to the driver’s seat. Topping the range is the LT, as tested, with 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, a leather-clad steering wheel with secondary audio controls, a rear roof spoiler and the metallic-effect interior finish.

Along with this are two engine options, both of which are petrol powered. Actually, the trims and engine mix is limited. The 1.2 in S-trim is the only combination for the 3-door Aveo, and in the 5-door the same engine can be matched with the S and LS trims. Alternatively, the larger, 1.4 unit is only available as LT, where customers get the further choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions.

The latter is priced at £10,645 OTR, which is £1,100 more than the equivalent manual version. Apart from that, the prices start at £7,695 for the 1.2 S three-door and £8,245 for the advantage of having two extra doors. Metallic or Mica paint adds an extra £350 but luckily, the yellow and red do not fall into this category.
