Cadillac's Global Expansion Reaches South Africa

General Motors is set to launch the Cadillac brand in South Africa early in 2007.  Three models will initially be available - the BLS mid-size saloon, the SRX crossover SUV, and the STS full-size saloon.  Each of the vehicles embodies Cadillac's distinctive bold design, innovative technology and outstanding performance.

"The portfolio we are offering in South Africa has been developed for luxury international markets," said James Vurpillat, director of International Marketing and Brand Development for Cadillac.  "The STS and SRX have achieved success in North America, Europe and Asia, and the new mid-size BLS has been an important addition to our Cadillac portfolio.  South Africa is one of the fastest growing automobile markets in the world, and with our distinct portfolio of luxury vehicles, Cadillac is ready to further its expansion on the African continent."

Through the first half of 2006, Cadillac sales outside of the U.S. grew 13 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier.  In China, where the brand was introduced only two years ago, sales were up 93 per cent in the same period.  In Europe, the launch of the Cadillac BLS helped sales in the first half grow by 30 per cent.
