Cadillac BLS

What We Liked
  • A little bit different - I drive a Cadillac
  • Easy to drive and easy to live with
What We Disliked
  • The plastic nose cone
  • Limited dealer network

What We'd Like To See
  • More Cadillac dealers
Build Quality

Being built in Europe the BLS does not suffer from some of the build glitches we have witnessed on American imports. Overall the Cadillac BLS benefits from European build standards and the quality of materials was good.

Value For Money

The biggest fear for prospective buyers is the unknown, Cadillac dealers are few and far between and future residual values are hard to forecast, it is a bit of a leap into the dark.

The Cadillac BLS is well equipped but you are paying a premium for the Cadillac brand the equivalent Saab 9-3 Vector would be around £2000 cheaper.

Overall Opinion

After our week with the Cadillac BLS we felt a little bit disappointed and we are not sure that it is radical enough to make an indent into the already over crowded market place. The preconception of a Cadillac is of a large luxurious American car but instead we got a Euro box albeit based on the sound principals of the Saab 9-3.

Brushing these preconceptions aside it is going to be hard for Cadillac to convince the buying public, at the time of writing there are only 12 UK Cadillac dealers located in Birmingham, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Derby, Hagley, Leeds, Luton, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading and Swansea.

If you are looking for something a bit different and travelling to the dealership is not a problem then the Cadillac BLS is well equipped, good to drive and makes a refreshing change from a BMW.
