The interior mirror has an anti-dazzle function which is particularly useful for night time driving especially on the Motorway easing the strain on your eyes. Although it can give you a false illusion of how close traffic is to the rear of the car. As discussed earlier our test car was equipped with optional electric folding door mirrors (£190) which fold vertically at the touch of a button or when locking the car.

Courtesy lights with front footwell illumination are standard and put an end to stepping out of a car in the dark directly into a puddle. The cabin also features switchable reading lights at the front and rear which are excellent for map reading at night as they do not disturb the driver whilst being bright enough to navigate by. Illuminated vanity mirrors with slide covers also feature for both driver and passenger as does indirect illumination of the centre console.

The headlights are powerful and light the road well even in adverse weather conditions. However, Xenon headlights including dynamic headlight range control are a £770 option and in my experience they illuminate the road ahead evenly without dazzling oncoming traffic and are well worth the investment.

The BMW 320Cd SE Coupe's level of refinement is high and includes: automatic air-conditioning including air recirculation and solar sensor, outside temperature display, lights-on warning, on board computer, twin-tone horn, powered vent windows in the rear, electric front windows with anti-trap facility and comfort closing function all round, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, cruise control, power assisted steering, adjustable steering column, remote central locking with automatically recharging battery.

How It Looks -

The exterior looks of the 320Cd SE Coupe are typically Germanic and architecturally pleasing. The BMW 3 Series Coupe is now in its 6th incarnation and features a number of styling enhancements such as a more distinctive bonnet, a 60mm wider grille, re-styled front bumper and brand new side-panels housing triangular side indicator lenses. The headlight clusters now merge with the front indicators but the iconic 3 Series still retains its muscular design.
